Hong Kong is a vibrant and dynamic city with a rich cultural heritage and a mix of modern and traditional influences. In this trip, students are able to explore and appreciate diverse cultural values in Hong Kong. The visit to Hong Kong Palace Museum provides a glimpse into the rich history and culture of China. The carefully curated exhibition with informative descriptions and multimedia displays help students explore Chinese art and culture outside of the classroom and create a link between heritage, modern life and personal experience. The tour of Yau Ma Tei allowed students to be aware of the struggles and difficulties faced by the ethnic minorities living in Hong Kong. Apart from learning about their struggles, students also learnt about cricket, which is a common sport among ethnic minorities. They also tried some Pakistani food for the first time. On the day trip to Lamma Island, students were introduced to a typical local fisherman’s life. They tried fishing and had a chance to pull the fishing net so as to experience the heavy weight of a real net. They were introduced to different types of fishing boats. To end the trip, students interacted with sea animals such as stingray, sea cucumber, and starfish.
