Highlights
1. Rich English Environment
English is used as the medium of instruction of the school. We aim to train students to be confident English users. We emphasize on the importance of nurturing a rich English-speaking environment in the campus through the frequent use of the language in different scenarios such as assemblies and other activities outside the classroom.
2. Student-centred teaching approaches
We work to provide student-centred learning and teaching experiences in which students are trained to play a leading role in learning. We adopt various teaching approaches like Flipped Classroom and Think-Pair-Share. The adoption of different teaching strategies helps students develop more in-depth understanding of knowledge as well as encourage them to actively participate in lessons.
3. Diversified learning opportunities
Learning outside the classroom is an essential part of a learning journey. It helps maximize the development of students’ potentials and talents. Diversified learning activities such as fashion shows, drama performances, field trips, English Sailing Day train students to be all-round learners. We also believe in the importance of global perspectives. To nurture students to become global citizens, study tours to the Mainland, Australia, Singapore, Taiwan and some European countries are arranged.
4. Individual care for learning
We believe all learners are unique. We aim to meet the particular needs of students with different abilities. We catered for the learning diversity of students through reforming the class structures and revising the streaming policy three years ago. Streaming for core subjects is available for both junior and senior forms focusing on groups of different learning capacity while the class structure of the school helps group students of similar learning ability to the same class.
5. eLearning
After years of implementation, all forms of students have been in the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Scheme. With the innovation of technology and the influx of information online, it is believed that appropriate use of the online materials can help facilitate learning. Using online platforms and making reference to online resources are part of the daily routine for both learning and teaching in the school.
