39 S5 Biology students experienced a one-day ecology fieldwork in a rocky shore in Cheung Chau.
Two teachers of Caritas Chan Chun Ha Field Studies Centre led our students to the field and taught them to measure the abiotic and biotic factors in the field. Students applied the skills they have learned such as using line transect to study the distribution and abundance of various organisms; using pH meter and photometer to measure the pH value and light intensity. They were asked to record all the measurements in the data sheet. After the fieldwork, students examined the organisms collected from the field by using light microscope and binocular microscope in the laboratory of the Centre.
