S.5 Biology Field Studies

28 S5 Biology students experienced a one-day ecology fieldwork in a rocky shore in Cheung Chau. Two teachers from Caritas Chan Chun Ha Field Studies Centre led our students to the field and taught them to make systematic measurements. Students applied the skills they have learned such as using belt transect to study the distribution and abundance of various organisms; using different electronic devices to measure the abiotic factors. They recorded their findings in the data sheet for further analysis in the laboratory. After the fieldwork, students examined the organisms collected from the field by using microscopes and performed dissection of toothed top shell.
